The Sky's Body: Constellations and Medicine in Mesopotamia and China

The astrological models of Mesopotamia and China related the macrocosm of the heavens to the microcosm of the earth and the human body. This class will look at the constellations of the western and eastern skies to find the commonalities and differences in understanding nature's systems, and the derivation of governance and medicine based in this understanding.

Class One: Introduction to Symbolic Thinking; the Mesopotamian Sky; the Chinese Sky

Class Two: the Constellations of Earth: The xiu Shi, Bi, Wei, Lou, Mao, Bi, Lui, Shen, Jing, Aquarius/Pisces/Aries/Taurus

Class Three: the Constellations of Heaven: The xiu Gui, Liu, Xing, Zhang, Yi, Zhen, Jiao, Kang; Gemini/Cancer/Leo/Virgo

Class Four: the Constellations of Man: The xiu Di, Fang, Shin, Wei, Ji, Dou, Niu, Nu, Xu, Wei; Libra/Scorpio/Sagittarius/Capricorn
